Executive Summary

A sustainable organization is constantly seeking individuals who are willing to take on the challenge of mentoring others in a way that supports the mission of the organization. Throughout my career as a law enforcement and professional development expert, I have studied several theories and principles that challenge my ability to become a more effective leader in a person’s professional and personal life. I have had the opportunity during my education to not only enhance my understanding of effective leadership but to simultaneously practice these theories in both my professional career as a Deputy Sheriff and as a business owner of 7 years. My enthusiasm for the subject of organizational leadership is so great, that it is a cornerstone of the business, providing practical leadership development solutions and consultation to individuals and organizations. I will continue to do this as a career goal with the intent of building stronger leaders and stronger organizations. This e-portfolio showcases much of the work I have done in formal and informal education settings including publications made originating from concepts and theories learned during my education journey.

Selected Works

Several publications were analyzed, defining a spectrum of behaviors associated with workplace violence that threaten the physical, psychological, and emotional well-being of employees in the workplace. The spectrum also includes a wide range of perpetrators of such conduct including co-workers, supervisors, customers, clients, and those who may not have a direct affiliation with the organization but seek to do harm motivated by an ideology.

Identify, Respond, and Preventing Workplace Violence

In this exploration of maintaining strong organizational culture, we will examine the culture and best practices of 2 humanitarian entities: The American Red Cross and Compass Housing Alliance. Two organizations with different missions and services, but similar core values and purposes.

Understanding art is a process that helps people of different cultures come together to learn how to appreciate one another. It is in a way, a starting point on display to a conversation of diverse views and opinions of how people who may share the same space, can live in the same communities but yet through their lens perceive many different realities. I had an opportunity to speak with Sean Hoodye, a law enforcement professional and artist whos artwork encourages people to look beyond their own cultures, perceptions, and realities to discover common ground through empathy and acknowledgment of common challenges.
